SHORT INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU
TRAVEL TO CUSCO MACHUPICCHU | TRAVEL TO LIMA PERU > Tours > Cuzco > SHORT INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU

This is the short version of the famous and amazing Inca Trail and we at WPeru-Travel will make sure that this is an unforgettable adventure.

This hike is 11 kilometers the first day during this trek. You will be able to observe and learn about one of the best cultures of South America, the «Inca», «Quechua» or «Andean» culture. The capital of this culture was Q’osqo or Cusco and it largely extended throughout South America (Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia). The Inca Trail is hidden among the Andean mountains with buildings in the mountains overlooking the Andean Valley and part of the Peruvian Amazon. With the arrival of the conquistadors, this culture was disappearing, but they left us signs and relics intact, as we will know during this hike.

Between the Andean mountains and the tropical forest there is a great Inca Trail through the mountains and the Sacred Valley. The first archaeological site we will visit is Chachabamba (2,200 m / 7,218 ft) located next to the Urubamba River and at the top is Wiñaywayna (2650 m / 8,694 ft) then we will go to Intipunku (2,720 m / 8,924 ft) where we will have a panoramic view of Machu Picchu (2,490 m / 8,169 ft), you can also find a variety of flora and fauna as well as a diversity of birds.

However, you can definitely walk from March and April and then from October through January. This does not mean that there is no chance of rain or showers, as they are simply unpredictable even in this season.

CUSCO – WIÑAY WAYNA – MACHUPICCHU
    START OF THE INCA TREK
We pick you up early from your hotel (depending on the train schedule) and take you to the train station. We travel by train for two and a half hours until we reach kilometer 104, the beginning of the trail for us. From here, we have a hike of approximately 4 hours to the Inca site Wiñay Wayna (2680m).

Then, we will continue to ‘Inti Punku’ (‘Sun Gate’) (2730m) from where you will have your first spectacular panoramic view of Machu Picchu (2400m). We will walk the last part of the trail to the ancient city. Before reaching Machu Picchu, we will take a side road off the trail to descend to Aguas Calientes, leaving the visit to Machu Picchu for the next day. In Aguas Calientes we will have dinner and a well-deserved rest so that we can recharge and be ready for Machu Picchu the next day.
    MEALS: Box lunch, Lunch, Dinner.
    OVERNIGHT: Aguas Calientes.

    DAY 2
MACHUPICCHU TOUR – RETURN TO CUSCO
MACHUPICCHU THE WONDER OF THE WORLD
We have breakfast and then take the first bus to Machu Picchu. Your guide offers you a walking tour (2 hours) and then you can explore the mysterious city by yourself. If you have energy, you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m) (It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top).

For lunch and you will be given your train tickets back to Cusco (bus transfer from Ollantaytambo). The train generally departs between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., depending on Peru Rail’s assignments and availability (to be confirmed).

If desired, an extra night in Aguas Calientes can be arranged. This option is very popular as it allows more time to explore Machu Picchu. You can also go to the hot springs in town, a real treat after finishing the Inca Trail.
